Parents, Staff and Children Working Together
Parents play a very important part in their children’s early years education and at Lodge Cottage we work closely with all parents and carers. We are available to chat to at any time and positively encourage you share with us the special insight you have into your child’s feelings and individual needs.
We send out regular newsletters and post details of special events and activities on our notice board.
Meeting new friends at nursery, for children and parents alike, is an important part of nursery life. We have several social occasions during the year when everyone can meet together. These include a Sports Day, collecting for charity and the Christmas Party.
Any parents who have a special skill or talent that they would like to share with the nursery children are warmly welcomed to do so. We always look forward to visits from friends and family.
What to Wear and What to Bring
It is important that the children can enjoy all the nursery activities without worrying about keeping their clothes too clean or being inhibited in their movement. We have a lovely, big garden and we spend many happy periods playing and learning outside. So it is recommended that children to come to nursery in comfortable and practical clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit muddy or paint splattered!
Each child must bring to nursery a pair of wellie boots. Coats, gloves and a warm hat are also needed in the winter months. We provide warm fleeces and waterproof suits to wear in the cold/wet weather. We also have our own sweatshirts and polo shirts printed with the nursery logo available to order in nursery.
A few weeks before your child joins nursery we will arrange a ‘taster session’. This is a time for your child to meet some new friends and to get to know the staff and the nursery environment. It is also time for you to chat to us about your child’s individual needs as well as reading our Policies and Procedures booklet and filling in a few important forms. The taster session lasts for the whole session and you are expected to stay with your child as she/he explores nursery for the first time.
We provide a healthy snack of fruit/vegetables and a selection of interesting bread snacks or biscuits at every nursery session. We offer milk and water to drink. Snack times and lunches are a sociable and happy time of the day where children share, eat and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.
We enjoy celebrating birthdays and special occasions and the children often bring in a birthday cake to share with their friends. Other national and cultural days are also celebrated and the children are welcome to bring in any special foods associated with these days to share in nursery.
Fees and Free Nursery Education:
The nursery is eligible for government funding. Your child will receive free nursery education from the term following their third birthday.
A detailed sheet, showing our current childcare charges, is available at nursery.
The fees are due on the first day of each term.
